Parent Choice Plan FAQs
When does the school receive payment of fees?
We settle the fee invoice in full on the opening day of term. For late applicants, we settle 7 days after the first payment is made.
How can a new parent enter a plan when they don't know the fees?
We use the published tuition fee value and then adjust the remaining payments mid-term when actual fees become known. We always settle the precise value of invoiced fees.
How do you handle next term's fees?
We automatically renew every parent's fees using the previous term's fees as a base value. We send a renewal list to you for completion when you run your fee invoices. The remaining payments are adjusted and we advise each parent in writing of any change.
If the plan payments start in July for Term 1, how late can parents apply?
Application is still possible 2 weeks into term, but we also have a secondary plan to help parents gain the advantage of spreading the cost by direct debit. This plan is slightly more expensive given the later start however Parents can convert later to our Parent Choice Plan at a time that suits them. We are happy to take calls from parents directly (0131 449 8840), relieving bursary staff of the need to answer questions of this nature.
Why do you have so few problems with your plan?
Prevention (of default) is better than cure and is achieved through intelligent plan design. This low risk strategy enables schools to retain profitable customers for longer. Our client-bursars also welcome that our plan payments finish in June, before students leave school.
How do you handle missed payments?
A failed payment (lack of funds) is automatically represented within 14 days. Almost all are paid in full. For the few that register a second failure, or where a parent cancels a direct debit instruction, this triggers a personal letter to the parent (with copy to you.) seeking resolution within 10 days. The school is always kept informed.
We already use another plan. Can we use both together?
Yes. Simply offer parents two brochures and let them choose.
Or can parents switch from an existing plan?
Yes. To ensure a smooth transition for parents finishing a pre-existing payment cycle in August, we offer Term 1 and Term 2 over 3 payments each (Sep-Nov and Dec-Feb). By Term 3, the parent is on track with a 4-month sequence Mar-Jun.
How do I register the school?
